Angie E's Review :

I was so excited to find out that Cody’s Promise was going to be a series. I loved it and didn’t get enough. So as soon as Author Dawne Prochilo sent me this ARC. I was ECSTATIC to say the least. I immediately dove right in to see where the BUTLERS were going to take me on this journey. I was introduced to Jake in Cody’s Promise. I fell in love with all the family in that book.

Jake is a hard working cowboy looking for his happily ever after. After watching how happy Cody (Jake’s brother) and bride Lydia are he wants this for himself.

Ellora Jameson is disgusted with the way her life has turned out and wants to get away from it all. She’s fed up with the way her father and ex Fiancé has manipulated and dominated her. She finds herself in a small ranchers town where she immediately looks for food and housing. Ellora takes up witnessing at Lowell’s under the name Ellis James.

This is where Jake and Ellie meet.

Through out the book it tells both Jake’s and Ellie’s points of view. I enjoyed getting into Jake’s mind and seeing that shy and sweet side of him. Everyone loves a MANLY MAN with a sweet sensitive side. Job well done once again to Author Dawne Prochilo. I can’t wait to read what’s next in store for the Butlers !

Ellora Jameson was tired of living under the thumb of a man, be it her father or the ex-fiancé who cheated on her with her worst enemy. After stepping off the stage she needed to make some cash if she was going to continue her travels away from her past. Ellie James would do her best even if it meant waitressing, something she had no experience in, to make her own way.

Jake Butler couldn’t keep his eyes off the pretty stranger now waitressing at Lowell’s after she begged the old man for a job she obviously had no experience at. He knew she was hiding something but the sassy woman called to him like no other woman had before.

Both of them had been burned by their loves before and were wary of jumping in with both feet wanting to never be burned by love again. When her ex-fiancé shows up, hits and threatens her, she is scared of letting her feelings for Jake show for both her sake and his. Jake wants her and if someone was hurting her, they were going to be the ones in a world of hurt for touching the woman who claimed his heart.

This sweet little morsel was the perfect item on my e-reader menu. I really dug into this book and loved the way they danced around giving themselves a chance to find love once again. Jake was just what I was looking for in a sexy hunky cowboy and the feisty and determined Ellora made me cheer for her to get her HEA with the man who was meant to stand by her side.

A horse galloping by brought Ellora out of her reverie, and she remembered she was alone in an unfamiliar town. She had to remain firm in her conviction and that the choice she made weeks ago had been the proper one. In her heart she had no indecision; it was her head and beaded-satchel that did. Her handbag held a few coins, her mother's broach and a few pieces of papers with mailing addresses for dear friends back east she planned on keeping in touch with once she settled. Only true friends Ellie knew she could trust would hear from her.

Working was not a task Ellora was accustomed to, having never worked a day of labor in her life. It was not such a thing a lady of stature would ever do. It would be an embarrassment to the family name according to her father. Just the thought of having to work for money to feed herself and stay alive made Ellora feel even more nauseous. She had no skills. She knew nothing about working for a living. Maybe she should just gi-

“Pardon me, ma'am.”

“Excuse me?” Ellora raised her head, glancing in the direction of the baritone voice.

“Are you feeling faint?”

“No, no I am fine. Thank you.” Ellora whispered. Not sure how to reply to a man without Edward or her father here to speak for her, she diverted her eyes.

“If you're sure.” Using his hand, he lifted his Stetson further back on his head.

Ellora glanced up, spotted a badge with a silver star on the left of his cow-hide vest. Inwardly she groaned; this is just what she needed, a lawman noticing her. She knew as soon as her father learned of her absence, he would be contacting the local authority and demanding they find her. Word would travel through the law offices from the east coast to the California gold rush claimant offices. Ellora shuddered imagining her father storming into a local merchant blasting accusations and demanding his daughter's return.

“Yes. I am quite sure.” Ellora failed at smiling and bent over to pick up her travel satchel, and spun on her heel toward the restaurant's threshold. “It's now or never.” She breathed in and out, knowing she had to enter the building to escape the scrutiny of the deputy. The less he remembered her, the better.

“Passing through?”

Ellora stopped. Not wanting to be rude, she slowly turned to face him and released her breath. “No. New to town and looking for a job.”

“Then I guess this is the place for you.” He nodded to the sign in the window. “Lowell is looking for a waitress.”
